Artist Statement

“I have worked my entire life with images. From early study of holography and optical engineering, the physics of light has fascinated me. I’ve worked capturing, processing and displaying images, both physically and digitally. No matter where I went in the corporate world, image found me. And, at mid-life as a student of depth psychology, imaginal work provided access to engaging the unconscious, individual soul, and its relation to the collective.

These works actually first sprang from a desire to play with new miniature lights. They developed with a playful expression of metaphors from my graduate studies and grew with the excitement felt as images and constellations emerged on their own. I love working with light and a mix of materials. Hardwoods provide warm and earthy containers for the interaction of light and symbol. Fabrics enrich the environment, holding, absorbing, and reflecting the energy. And light simply brings it all to life.

My desire is that my work provides symbolic space to hold the gaze and personally reflect.”
